Understand the two Carnival experiences
At the Sambadrome, samba schools parade along a purpose-built avenue and compete in an organized program. A ticket buys entry for a particular date and viewing product. The Grupo Especial is the top division featured in the schedule below.
Blocos are street Carnival celebrations with their own routes and timing. A Sambadrome ticket does not include them, and a street-party itinerary does not replace a parade ticket. You can plan around one or combine both, but leave room for transport, rest and changing street conditions.
The first choice is therefore the shape of the trip. If seeing a named school matters most, select its parade night. If you want a hosted evening with food and drinks, compare the camarotes’ food, drinks, viewing position and transfer arrangements. If your priority is street Carnival, wait for the relevant current route and calendar rather than buying a parade ticket simply because it appears in a Carnival search result.
Confirmed Grupo Especial dates and order
LIESA’s official parade schedule lists the following order for 2027:

The Champions Parade on February 13 offers another chance to see the best-placed schools after the competition results. For a particular school, choose its competition night; for the encore, keep the lineup open until the results. Venue admission and parade start times can differ, so use the instructions for your ticket.
Rehearsals, other parade divisions, balls and street events have their own calendars. Add them around the nights you most want to attend, rather than treating the whole visit as one interchangeable Carnival ticket.
Choose the viewing product

The most expensive option is not automatically the right one. A hosted party may suit someone wanting food, drinks and an organized venue, while a traveler focused on the parade may prefer to choose by viewing position. A camarote is not necessarily a private suite for your party or a guarantee of an assigned seat.
Ticket prices and how to find a release
Regular grandstand, numbered-chair and frisa products are currently marked ESGOTADO—sold out on Ticketmaster’s official Rio Carnaval page. Watch for a new official release rather than assuming an old sale announcement means tickets remain available. LIESA’s September sales round included returned inventory from cancellations and payment checks, so later opportunities can arise.
The September round listed R$250 full price per night for grandstands in sectors 2–11 except sector 9, and for numbered individual chairs in sector 12. The advertised eligible half-price amount was R$125; eligibility and required documentation must be checked for the buyer. The popular grandstand products in sectors 12 and 13 are separate from the numbered chairs and were not assigned a sale date in that notice.
Frisas were listed at R$1,835–10,200 per six-person box per night, depending on position. This is a box price, not a per-person fare. The September round specified PIX payment for frisas. Do not assume a foreign card can buy every product simply because cards are accepted elsewhere on the event page.
These are the announced prices for that official round. A reseller or hospitality package may involve a different product and price; identify exactly what it includes before comparing it with an ordinary ticket.
Buying from abroad and receiving the ticket
Foreign-issued credit cards are accepted without installments through the official ticketing process, with the account country matching the card’s issuing country. Check the purchase limit and payment methods for your specific sales round and ticket category.
Digital tickets are delivered through Quentro closer to Carnival. Establish what account, app and identification arrangements each traveler needs. Do not leave ticket access dependent on a phone or login that another person controls without understanding the transfer and entry rules.
Frisas have additional instructions: digital tickets and facial registration are paired with wristbands, and the group must attend wristband collection together. Collection details need checking when announced. If your six guests arrive on different flights or days, that procedure can materially affect the booking decision.
Camarotes: compare the actual hospitality
Camarote Nº1, in sector 2, combines the parade with a 12-hour open-food and open-bar experience, entertainment and a transfer. It operates on February 7, 8, 9 and 13, with the venue opening at 7 p.m. Admission is for adults aged 18 and over.
This kind of hospitality suits someone who wants a hosted night around the parade, with food and drinks in the same venue. Before buying any hosted option, check where the transfer departs, whether return is included, what seating is available, where the parade view is and whether the ticket permits re-entry. A nightclub-style hospitality space and a quiet reserved seat are different experiences.
Compare the price for the exact date and category, and confirm the transfer meeting point. A shared pickup location creates a different journey from collection at your hotel.
Accessibility and getting to the correct side
Accessible-sector arrangements are available through the official ticket page, while some other areas require access without elevators. Describe your needs before buying, including companion arrangements and the route from the entrance to the viewing place. Do not assume a later sector swap will be possible.
MetrôRio’s Carnival directions distinguish the sides of the Sambadrome: Central do Brasil for odd-numbered sectors and Praça Onze for even-numbered sectors. Its currently displayed special-operation dates concern the previous Carnival, so they do not establish 2027 overnight hours or fares. Recheck the current-year plan before travel.
Arrange the journey from your hotel to the correct entrance and the return after the event. For a camarote transfer, use its instructions; for public transport, save the route and current service details. Avoid relying on an immediate app pickup at the busiest exit as the only way home.
Accommodation and the rest of the trip
Choose accommodation around the combination of activities you actually want. A beach hotel can provide a comfortable daytime base, but it does not put you beside the Sambadrome. A hotel room also does not include parade or ball admission unless the package explicitly says so.

Leave recovery time after a parade night. A tightly scheduled morning excursion may be a poor fit even when the map suggests it is nearby. For street Carnival, use current city route and event information as it becomes available, and apply the Rio safety precautions to crowds, drinks, phones and the return journey.
The order of decisions is simple: choose the event, establish the ticket and entry arrangements, then build the hotel and transport around it. That gives the trip a firmer basis than buying accommodation against a parade night you have not yet secured.
